I am saddened that I can no longer hangout at the cafes I used to. My go-to spot was always Artist Cafe on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, which unfortunately is no longer there.

Small-scale development aims to enhance the immediate surroundings and cater to the specific needs of a community or neighborhood.

Ownership goes beyond simply having possession of something. It comes with various benefits such as a sense of pride and accomplishment, as well as a feeling of responsibility and satisfaction. Being an owner allows for personalization and customization of belongings, which promotes empowerment and autonomy. Ownership also serves as a long-term investment, building equity and accumulating wealth over time, providing stability, security, and potential for future prosperity. In summary, ownership enhances quality of life, promotes a sense of belonging and self-expression, and contributes to financial well-being.

Recognizing Black Success During Juneteenth. As Juneteenth approaches, it’s essential to acknowledge the accomplishments of Black people, particularly in the region we serve. Although Juneteenth originated in the South, it was the everyday people who recognized their worth that made it a national holiday. It’s time to celebrate and highlight other areas such as Chicago’s Bronzeville, which was once known as the Black Metropolis, and give them the recognition they deserve.

The economic revitalization of Rust Belt cities is a testament to their resilience and adaptability. These cities, once heavily reliant on declining industries such as manufacturing and steel production, have undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years.
